Commemorating the 50th Anniversary since the inauguration of the Tigaiga this year, our staff started  reforesting a picturesque spot in the Tenerife hills,  planting the first from 50 pine trees in response to a plea from the Tenerife Cabildo.

We want to mark the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Tigaiga in a special way and hope these trees will stand for many decades to come.

Planning the herb garden by our gardeners has been fun and rewarding.

But now of course these culinary herbs, grown with care, are collected and greatly appreciated by our all our kitchen brigade.

The island council recently organised a special course for cookery professionals on how to prepare one of Tenerife’s most famous resources – potatoes. Day of the Holy Cross: when the principal crosses of Tenerife are festooned with flowers and other typical adornments. In addition there are great fireworks in Los Realejos and in all towns with the word “Cruz”  performances by traditional dancers and musical groups, exhibitions of flowers and plants, religious celebrations and sports events.

In 2007, as well as in the past 13 years, Tigaiga was voted by TUI guests one of the best 100 hotels out of a total of 12.000 hotels worldwide. A prize giving event to celebrate the awarded hotels took place in Hamburg.

A basic criterion for above award is the valuation of hotels that results from a specific guest questionnaire.
